5 weeks and 5 years

Well this week Lewis turned 5 weeks old and our sweet Grant turned 5 years old. Both the big kids were sick this week with some sort of respiratory bug that caused fevers, runny noses, and coughing. It's a miracle that Lewis and I haven't caught it yet because they have been hacking all over the place. Kevin succumbed to the illness and now has sinus pressure and pain.

We still aren't making a lot of headway in sleeping. Lewis eats every 1-2 or once in a while 3 hours. I feel like a zombie at night but somehow once it's 7am I'm up with the other kids and can make it through the day. I don't get a lot of naps unfortunately. It seems like one of the three kids needs me most of the time.

Friday Amelia stayed home sick and the big kids did a few errands with me in the afternoon without Lewis. It was my first time away from him. We went out and got Amelia's missed schoolwork from that day, stopped by the library and the bank and then picked up Moe's for their dinner. Kevin and I went to some friends' house for dinner that night and took Lewis along while the big kids got to have a babysitter.

Saturday October 1st marked Lewis's one month birthday. So we had to begin again our tradition of monthly photographs by the football. Conveniently it was a Saturday game day so he was already in his Gator gear.
We met my family at their tailgate for the UF-Alabama game. The game didn't start until 8 so our plan was to have lunch with them and visit most of the afternoon. My family got in some good Lewis snuggle time.
And we finally got another family picture with the 5 of us. I think Gator gear may be the only thing we can all wear and match together.

I just loved this little onesie.
 Squeeze you? Okay!

So Monday Lewis had his 1 month check up appointment, but both the big kids were still sick and Amelia stayed home from school again so they took his appointment and we rescheduled him for Thursday. They got a round of antibiotics and hopefully will be 100% soon.

Wednesday me and the boys took a trip to a MOPS playdate at the Florida Museum of Natural History. No pictures there, but Lewis just laid on his blanket while Grant played with his buddies and I chatted with my friends. We saw a friend who just had a baby a week ago and her little 7 pounder looked so petite next to my bruiser baby boy!

And then there was Thursday. Lewis went to his doctor's appointment and was 10 lbs and 12 oz! That kid is growing so much, we can really tell he's getting bigger. Grant also came along on this appointment because he woke up saying his ear was hurting that morning. So we got another prescription of antibiotics for him if the last two days of his current treatment doesn't clear it up.

After the appointment we went to McDonald's to celebrate Grant turning 5 years old. We took our food over to Possum Creek playground for a special birthday playtime. He was so excited about turning 5. Everywhere we went he told people, 'today is my birthday!' He was sorely missing his playmate sister at the playground. He wanted me to come and play with him and so I did, really, how could I resist. Lewis was napping in the carseat and so I got to play with my big 5 year old boy. We sat in the top tower and snuggled and pretended it was our house. He pulled me down the slide by my shoe, it was a sweet time together.

Thursday night we went out to Stevie-B's pizza place. The kids really enjoyed it.
Amelia is apparently a skeeball queen! She racked up over 100 tickets playing this game.
Amelia's reading night at school and one another group at our house finished off a busy day.

The next day Uncle David took Grant out to walmart to pick out a new Cars car and later Kevin took him to Toys R Us to spend his birthday money. He's been talking about wanting a spy jet for months now! Weeks ago he cried and cried because he wanted it to be his birthday. When it was my birthday he cried because it wasn't HIS birthday, because he wanted to get the spy jet. Well, now he has it and it looks like he'll have lots of fun pretending to fly it around the house with the little Cars cars inside.
Happy birthday buddy!
